What I used to do is call my Mom or sister who may or may not be at a computer and ask them to look up the number for me. The problem is my sister is constantly on the phone and I can never raise her and my Mom… well lets just say she is nosy and I do not really want her to know my business. So as an alternative I used to call 411 and just eat the .75c on my cell phone bill. Because I am such a tightfist I did not use the 411 service unless it was a real emergency until I found that you could get free 411 service. Imagine my delight when I got that piece of information, which I am going to share with you. This is a service offered by 1-800-free-411 www.free411.com and is funded by advertising. This is how it works. When you call 1-800-free-411 which translates to 1-800-3733 411 you hear a quick 5 second advert, then a lady voice comes on and asks you what number you need, business, government or residential, you say the city and the name you need. The voice says hold on while I find the number and another 5 second advert plays. Then the voice gives you the number. It is really very quick and the adverts are so short that they are not annoying. I found the line to be clear and the numbers to be accurate. Go ahead and try it right now from your home phone or cell phone seeing that it is free.
