You know how we tend to yearn for a beach as soon as winter fades away, and we automatically think of places like Myrtle Beach, Destin and Panama City, places where accommodation can be pretty pricey and hard to find as the season progresses. Well by accident I discovered a place that I never knew existed. My wife and I had to go to Pensacola, Florida for business and stayed over in the city a few nights. That’s where we discovered Pensacola Beach, and I have been in love with the place ever since. Let me tell you about it.
First of all it is not overcrowded like well-known regular beaches. The beach area is actually a thin sliver of land with only one main road down the center. You have to get there via a causeway and through the Gulf Breezes community and over another causeway. When you get to the entrance of the beach there is a ticket booth where they charge $1.00 per car, which allows fee parking anywhere on the strip.
The nice thing is that on one side of the strip you have ocean waves and the other side is bay area with calm shallow water perfect for small children. You will find a vast array of restaurants there and also some kiosks selling whatever a beach visitor may need at reasonable prices.
If you travel a little further away from the commercial hub, which is just beyond the ticket booth, you get to parking areas used by surfing enthusiasts and bathers who want to get away from it all.The beach stretches for miles and miles and miles and is made out of the finest cleanest white sand you would ever want.
There are no hotels on the beach itself so accommodation can be found at very reasonable prices in Gulf Breezes and in and around Pensacola vacinity. If you wanted to visit a casino you can reach Biloxi one hour west and if you wanted a crowded party beach you could travel in the other direction and end up in Destin.

Expect a crowd inside. People know where good food is at a good price.
